Kate Ritchie is the latest celebrity to be dragged into an insidious social media hoax ripping off Aussie customers.

The Nova FM star, 45, took to Instagram on Saturday to warn her followers that scammers have been using her image to promote weight loss gummies.

She shared a screenshot of a fake image that showed her 'endorsing' the gummies, alongside a lengthy caption that began: 'THIS POST OR ANYTHING LIKE IT IS FAKE'.

'I am sorry to all the people who have believed this rubbish of me selling KETO GUMMIES or ANY KIND OF QUICK FIX WEIGHTLOSS PLAN!' she warned.

'Please share this post (from the real me) to your own socials on Insta and FB and feel free to report the numerous versions of FAKES floating around out there.'

Kate is far from the only Australian celebrity to be unwittingly pulled into a weight loss gummy scam. In recent years, the likes of Jackie 'O' Henderson, Chrissy Swan, Samantha Armytage and Tracy Grimshaw have all been targeted by unscrupulous online scammers

'Yeah I thought it was, so much fake stuff like this around they are scumbags,' another wrote.

Fellow actor Rebecca Gibney meanwhile added: 'Those gummies get around. They did the same thing to me not long ago!'
