RS232, RS422, RS423 and RS485 are serial communication methods for computers and devices. RS232 is without doubt the best known interface, because this serial interface is implemented on almost all computers available today. The bus pins of these devices are robust to high levels of IEC electrical fast transients (EFT) and IEC electrostatic discharge (ESD) events, eliminating the need for additional system-level protection components. Therefore the trigger level of the RS232 interface is set relatively high at ±3 Volt. It's a TTL UART to RS-485 Converter, to allow single-ended logic level signals (such as those from a microcontroller IO pin) to be electrically interfaced with an RS-485 bus. RS-485 does not specify any protocol, addressing scheme, or connector.
